Kox: What Bell!   I don't know nothin' about any bell!   GET OUTTA THERE LARS!
Solie: That Button Right There.  Did you push it!
Kox: I don't know what you're talkin' about!  I don't see any bell.   GET OUTTA THERE LARS, GET OUTTA THERE!

Karl continued to deny his involvement while Solie, reluctantly announced that the match was a draw and, amid the controversy, Anderson did not have to give up the Silver Dollars.  Solie and Kox brought this one home in true veteran style.

Killer Karl Kox left the area and resurfaced again in the late 70's but this time as a "good guy".  He wasn't wrestling as much as he decided to manage up and coming star Jimmy Garvin.  Kox became Garvin's mentor, teaching him about every aspect of professional wrestling.  For the next few months everyone would watch Garvin become better and better at everything he was doing.  Kox was there every step of the way lending guidance and cheering him on.  One of Karl's big announcements on television was that "Jimmy's learned the Brain Buster".

Under Karl's guidance, Garvin became the Florida Heavyweight Champion.  At that time the Florida Heavyweight Champ was defending the title on television each week.  For several weeks Garvin and Kox were on television with Jimmy solidly winning against every bad guy they threw his way.

One Wednesday morning at the Sportatorium in Tampa, it was time for another televised Florida Heavyweight Bout.  Jimmy Garvin defending the title against King Curtis (it had been quite some time since we'd seen him).

Just before the opening bell, Karl looks to the sky for advice from "Alex".  When the bell sounds, he calls Jimmy into the corner to whisper some advice in his ear.  With Garvin facing the corner, Kox's arm over his shoulder whispering in his ear, Karl waves Curtis in for the kill.  Curtis chops him on the back of the head for starters then continues to beat him to a pulp in about 45 - 50 seconds.  He grabs him from behind and sinks his thumb into Garvin's throat for the "Singapore Spike".   Garvin concedes as everyone watches with astonishment at the horrible betrayal that has just taken place.

When Kox and Curtis come over to the desk, Solie is in disbelief.  Curtis starts yelling loudly in a loud tone unmatched by anyone.  "I LIKE TO WATCH 'EM GURGLE WHEN I SINK THE SINGAPORE SPIKE  - DEEP - DOWN - INTO THEIR THROATS!!  ..... KILLER KARL KOX AND I HAVE BEEN FRIENDS FOR A LONG TIME AND I'D LIKE TO THANK HIM FOR EVERYTHING HE'S DONE FOR ME OVER THE YEARS..........."

Well, it didn't take long for everyone to get used to hating Killer Karl Kox again.   He stuck around for a while teaming up with King Curtis on several occasions and battling against his former Protege and pal, Jimmy Garvin.  I recall seeing a match at the Armory in Tampa where Garvin administered the Brain Buster to Karl.  The uproar of the crowd was unreal.  It was like he'd gotten revenge on Kox for betraying everyone's trust.

Thanks Killer for the great performances you gave us over the years.  The memories of your appearances on Championship Wrestling From Florida will live on for many years to come.
