GWF #4 Page #2
The GWF announcing team was one of the most underrated announcing teams in wrestling history. It started with Craig Johnson and Scott Hudson. Johnson was an announcer for a few years in the USWA before joining the GWF while Hudson worked for Georgia All-Star Wrestling. Bonnie Blackstone interviewed wrestlers and the fans while Joe Pedicino updated the fans on the news in world of professional wrestling. The staff changed in 1992, when Blackstone and Pedicino became less visible, Steven De Truth (Steve Prazak) and Scott Hudson had a "Point-Counterpoint" segment and Bruce Pritchard (Brother Love in the WWF) took over for the departing Scott Hudson and Steven De Truth. A young Brandon Baxter joined the GWF staff as a commentator talking to kids and teens during his "Teen Beat" segment. Craig Johnson later left and was replaced by David Webb, who was a former USWA Texas commentator. Pritchard later left and was replaced by Doyle King, a local television/radio personality with wrestling knowledge. Webb and King were a decent commentary team until Webb left. This left King doing commentary and interviews by himself. During the last days of the GWF, Doyle King received assistance from Brandon Baxter and GWF wrestlers and managers. The GWF also had special guest commentators like Marc Lowrance (WCCW Commentator), and wrestling legends Red Bastien and Kerry Von Erich.
Well, GWF wrestling fans this is my last article… it's time for me to step down. I'd like to thank Kayfabe Memories for giving me the opportunity to get the GWF region started. I look forward to reading what follows.
