SWCW #6 Page #2

The Dynamic Duo of Blanchard and Gino Hernandez were the most decorated team in the SWCW. These  were the greats that paved the way for the future tag team wonders like the Fabulous Blonds and the Sheepherders, who went on to become one of the most ruthless teams in history... a far cry from the happy go lucky team you laughed at on WWF. The Road Warriors were even brought in to duel with these huge stars, that is how big they were. More tag matches to come fans...   There is another victory for Blanchard... the title he made famous, "The Southwest Heavyweight Title." Some of the biggest stars in professional wrestling held that title in the 80's, names like Tully Blanchard, Adrian Adonis, Bob Sweetan, Dick Slater, the two time Southwest champion Wahoo McDaniel, and the unforgettable Terry Funk.   These were by far the glory days of professional wrestling. A time when being a champion mattered, and when there were good guys and bad guys and you could honestly tell the difference. It was also a time when the glory wasn't held by a select few and some of the best matches were often done by a couple of new faces that worked their tails off just for the honor of the game.

It was a time when a man wanted to show kids how and why to do the right thing. It was a time when men wrestled other men and not women. It was a time when a tag team from New Zealand was on the rampage leaving a bloody trail behind the, and wrestling was the best game in town. It was a time when a little promotion out of San Antonio Texas stood up and said look at me.... I am the greatest. Check back next month for more stories on your favorite stars of SWCW.
