I'M sorry he passaway He was a very good wrestler
I grew up in Tampa, the home for Florida Championship Wrestling.I was sad to hear that the great CHIEF WAHOO McDANIELS died. I would like to know what is up with two of my favorites KILLER KARL KOX AND OX BAKER.Are they still living and if they are were do they live and what are they up to now. This is a great sight.
The first professional wrestling match I can recall watching on our old black and white television was a match between Fritz Von Erick and Johnny Valetine sometime in the mid 60's. Those were the good old days of my early childhood and wrestling was the best entertainment on television. It was around the mid 70's when I finally got my chance to watch my first live wrestling event at the Will Rogers Collisium in Ft. Worth TX. Every Saturday night I enjoyed World Class Wrestling as I watch the very best of professional wrestling. Fritz always provided the best wrestlers in the world. I sure miss the good old days of professional wrestling.
wow all the info. thanks vince!!!
LOVE YOUR SITE ITS GREAT PLEASE PUT WHAT YOU CAN ON JOHNNY WEAVER I CAN'T FIND HARY ANYTHING ON HIM THANK YOU VERY MUCH RLB
Nice layout, kudos to Atom Designs. Love all of the "real" wrestling talk that goes on. A great history site!
Have been a fan since early 1950's in Augusta, GA. It was the Paul Jones Atlanta office run in Augusta on Monday nights by promoter Tom Mahoney. First matches I ever saw were headlined by Gorgeous George himself. Dr. Jerry Graham had a huge run there in the mid-fifties. All the national stars came through along with regional favorites such as Don and Red McIntyre, Tex Riley, "Dizzy" Davis, Chief Big Heart and countless others. Those were great days and I have many exciting memories of them. I look forward to perusing your site! Best Regards, WP
Great site to visit, I've been watching since March 1986 in Philadelphia. So I miss the old NWA Days. Here I can read/learn and interact with the past.
KM and Wrestling Classics help keep the days of my youth alive. KM had grown and changed so much since it first started, Vince we are indebted to you for this wonderful service you provide. Keep up the great work.
Great website. Found it while I was surfing the web.
I have the old World Jr. Heavyweight belt from Lou Thesz' UWA, which I won from Nature Boy Roger Kirby and still held when Lou shut down. If you would like a picture of it to post, hit me back. I have no idea where the other straps wound up, but perhaps someone will uncover them one day.
Great site!!!

This site brings to life the Regional Territories to life, the ones I read about in wrestling magazines when I was growing up. Thanks a lot.
like your web site and will beazook meazark it for sure. so will be checking in. Stay loose
Thank you for your great work.
I grew up in the 70's watching wrestling casually. I became a true fan during the early 80's when Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling was the main television feature. During this time I tried to learn as much as I could about the other organizations, though I rarely saw them in action until WWF began monoplizing the regional terroritorys. Though I thought it was great to finally see the other superstars, I never realized how it would affect the future of the industry. At that time, being a mark was wonderful. I in many ways miss that naivity, and truly respect those who protected the business. For those gentlemen, I am very happy to see a site dedicated to the true forefathers of today's wrestling. Thank you for this site, and my sincere thanks to those men listed here.
great site for the thinking fan! who said wrestling on the 'net was just crap?!

Comments: Thanks for the articles on Eddie Gilbert
Vince, The web-site is great thanks for the chance to tell my stories and talk about my dream of Bass Fishing.
This is simply an amazing site! Great and wonderful memories about the old regional promotions. Simply amazing!!!
Hi, I was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Miami when I was 14 and I was a huge WWC and NWA fan. I always thought that their story lines were more real than the ones from the WWF. Ofcourse, back then, the internet wasn't around like it is today. So when TNT put that Cobra on Carlitos Colon and then didn't wan't to wake him up and Carlitos had bubbles coming out of his mouth I thought he was going to die. I even had tears in my eyes watching Victor Jovica trying to wake him up with no response. Same thing when the Texas Hangmen had the Invader in that rope chocking while all the tecnicos weren't allowed in the ring because the rudos would stop them until TNT finally decided to turn and help him. Anyways, those are just a couple of the many memories that I have from that once great promotion. I look back now to all the great wrestlers that I got to see in person against our talent. Guys like Flair, the Funks, Barry Windham, Mantell, Dick Murdoch, Scott Hall, Motorcity Madman (Nash), RoadBlock, Bruiser Brody, Tully Blanchard, Ron Starr, Rokero Al Perez, Rock n Roll RPM Abdullah etc... I want to thank all the people involved with this page because it truly brings a lot of great memories. I was getting tired of reading all of these comments about the ECW like if they were the ones who came up with all this Extreme stuff. Hopefully this page will show that wrestling was Extreme way before ECW ever came. Flair, Carlitos, The Funks, Abdullah, Invader, Mantell and many others have set the table for all the new talent.
HOW CAN I OBTAIN SOME VHS TAPES OF THE TAG TEAM "BRITISH BULLDOGS"
thur all the places i`ve been thur out this crazy world,i still repect for the business, which is a dying breed (boys). now wrestling on it`s last leg, and fool can see this, with all the bulls$#@,that the wwe has been doing lately iwill give it a few years, in which vince will only be doing east coast towns, and overseas,it starting to show, like the good ole saying saids, what goes up`s must come down, thats a part of the big picture in life, and believe me vince is human.
I have been watching wrestling since I was two years old...gods, thirty years now! This site really brings back memories of the way wreatling used to be. It was just wrestling, and not a Las Vegas show. Thanks for doing such a great job!
Great site!!!!
Great Site. Hope you find a writer for Shire's San Francisco promotion soon. I can't figure out what the guy writing for LeBell's LA Promotion is writing about
the one memory of owen hart was in 1988 when I ran into him and a few other wreslers after a card in vegreville, ab @ a local 7-11. The only thing owen was wearing was a towel, slippers, and a smile. I do miss him. RIP Owen!
I thoroughly enjoyed the Von Raschke piece. The Great Baron was the greatest rulebreaker I had ever seen as a kid back in the late 1960s and seventies. His shaved head, monacle, huge cauliflower ears and foghorn voice scared the hell out of me when I was young. I grew to appreciate his professionalism later on, especially when I learned from industry sheets that his amateur background had been of championship caliber. I'm not at all surprised that the man is a shy, modest individual. It is a mark of a great pro to become the antithesis of one's actual personality.
Congratulations for this great site.I`m 28 years old and I`m from Puerto Rico and also I am a great fanatic of wrestling((I love wrestling))...This site is the best one that I`ve ever seen about wrestling information, keep with your great job.By the way I have five favorites wrestlers;Abdullah the Butcher,Ric Flair,Bruiser Brody,Stone Cold,Sting and from my country PuertoRico the one that I think changed the World Wrestling Council was Chicky Starr......Thank you
Great website. Keep up the good work.
Hey there. I've been reading the KayFabe site now for several weeks and I have to say that I am very impressed. It's so good to actually relive the memories I grew up on being told by other viewers. I also love the historic aspect of the site. Some viewers may know me already. I am a huge collector of Florida Championship Wrestling from Florida. I may be wrong but if I don't have THE largest collection of Florida memoribilia, I'm very close. I've got app. 2500 Fla. programs dating back to 1942 and have app 90-100 posterboards dating back to 1963. I'm just now starting to collect videos. I also put out a publication that ANY old school wrestling fan would want to get their hands on. It's called Florida Mat Wars- The Year Was........ So far I have issues for the years 1956, '66, '70, '71, '72 and '81. Each issue (except 1981) has atleast 350 clips and results. The good thing about my publication is that I not only have material on the big cities like Tampa, Orlando, J'ville and Miami but I also have a TON from the smaller towns like Ocala, Live Oak, Palatka, Leesburg, Lake Worth ect...... Each book took atleast 7 months to put together. 95% of my clips come from the Univ. of Fla. microfilm dept. I started doing this just for my collection until I brought one of my books to a C.A.C. banquet in Tampa back in '96. A couple of fans/friends wanted to get copies and I thought that would be a good way to make up some of my money. I've had nothing but positive feedback on it and thought I would just go ahead and try and offer it to ALL the old school fans. If you would like 2 free sample pages just email me your home address and I will make sure to get them out to you. I'm looking forward to actually writing and helping out where ever I can on this site.
truly one of the best wrestling sites ever/ the features really bring back memories i
I am an old friend of James Beard, lost contact with him when I moved from Texas to Tn. Found this website with his stories and memories. If he or someone would e-mail me with his e-mail address or contact him with mine. I would really be grateful..I am trying to contact him to see how he is doing. I knew he was a referee and have seen him on TV, (WWF) Would love to get in touch with him. Thanks.
I really enjoyed my recent visit to this site, and I plan to come back again.
I started watching wrestling in the Georgia Championship Wrestling/Mid South era, around 1981 or so.
Enjoyed your web page very much. It's nice to know some people are interested in the past.Of course it was hard to understand how a manager of my superior abilities could be overlooked. Well it is obvious not everybody remembers, so be it. As I mentioned before I enjoyed the site and keep up the good work.
BEST REGARDS, MAJOR DUKE GEORGE
this website is great .keep up the good work . take care and god bless. carole
ENJOYED THE WEBSITE
Your site brings back the memories that I have from the old NWA days (and other promotions as well). Thanks for taking the time to create a website like this.
I love this site and you can rest assured we will continue to advertise you on my site.Thank you.
WCW SUCKS SHIT! THEY HAVE CHEESY GIMMICKS LIKE THE WALL AND GOLDBERG WHICH IS A COMPLETE COPY OF STONECOLD WHICH IS WAY BETTER. GILLBERG IS BETTER THAN GOLDBERG! I CALL GOLDBERG PACBERG BECAUSE HE IS A PAKI. STUPID WCW DONT KNOW HOW TO PUSH THEIR WRESTLERS. THE WWF AND STORY WRITERS AND VINCE MCMAHON ARE GENOUIS'S!!!!!! THE PAKI WRESTLING(WCW) AND ERIC BISCHOFF ARE A BUNCH OF IDIOTS WHO RUINED WCW! WWF RULES!!!!! FATASS TURNER!

I just felt like saying thank you to everyone who put this site together. As a relatively new fan, I treasure any information that can help me better appreciate and understand the rich history of professional wrestling. And since I don't have the money to buy the entire back catalogue of PWI, this site is the next best thing -- and it's free. So I just wanted to thank everybody and make sure they know that their hard work is greatly appreciated.
i would like to know if there is a way to order faded glory the von erich story
I THINK THIS WEBSITE IS SO COOL..AND MY DAD IS A WRESTLER...(PAT ROSE) I LOVE HIM SO MUCH...WELL ALL THESE WRESTLERS KEEP ON DOING WHAT UR DOING CAUSE U PEOPLE R AWESOME I LOVE READING YALLS STORIES THERE SO INTERESTING
Great site, great memories, and wonderful detail. A must site for those with interest in wrestling history.
You guys have done a great job...can't believe with the popularity of wrestling today that there would be so much interest in the past...but it was a great time...Lots of great angles and lots of GREAT workers...it was a privelege to be a part of history..to have had such wonderful storylines...I was so fortunate that Tully made sure Babydoll was unique..and I miss Dusty
MY NAME IS JOHN KRASHNER AND I HAVE OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS LOOKED ON THE NET TO FIND STORIES AND INFORMATION ABOUT MY UNCLE. HE DIED WHEN I WAS VERY YOUNG BUT I REMEMBER HIM WELL. I SAW THE STORY ABOUT PAT ROSE AND HE TALKED OF MY UNCLE RICK MCGRAW. I CERTAINLY KNOW THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF HIS DEATH. BUT I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT MORE STORIES ABOUT HIM.
I HAVE BEEN A FAN SINCE THE EARLY 1960'S AND SAW MANY OF WRESTLINGS GREATEST, LOU THESZ, JACK BRISCO, GENE KINISKI, JOHNNY VALENTINE, THE GREAT MALENKO, EDDIE GRAHAM, JOSE LOTHARIO, WAHOO MCDANIEL, CICLON NEGRO, JUST TO MENTION A FEW. THEN BY CHANCE IN 1982 I MET THE MAN WHO I ONCED BOOED AND DESPISED, BORIS MALENKO. WE BECAME FAST FREINDS AND AT AN INDEPENDENT SHOW HE WAS PROMOTING ASKED ME TO FILL IN FOR THE ABSENT REF. HE WAS MY MENTOR AND DEAR FREIND UNTIL HIS UNTIMELY DEATH.
I miss the old school! Keep up the good work!
this is a wonderful web site. thank you for helping me relive all of these great memories

WHAT A GREAT WEBSITE YOU GUYS ARE DOING A GREAT JOB KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. I WILL BE TELLING PEOPLE ABOUT THE SITE. CONTINUED SUCCESS. THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES..
Unbelieable sight, let me say. I consider myself a Wrestling Insider/Journalist in training, and hope to be like Dave Meltzer. And this sight, helped me get a lot more information then I already have, i'm a fan of all kinds of wrestlings, old school, reigonal, Japan, Mexico you name it. This sight is terriffic, and not only does it focus on the regonal scene, it foucuses on a time where it was all about the actual Wrestling. And I love that.
Hi, My dad used to appear on Live Atlanta Wrestling back in the 1960s. His name was Bob Shipp. He really was a regular on the show--we used to watch him, and I have many fond memeries of waiting on him to come home after the matches. As a matter of fact, my mom , my sister, and I used to attend a few of those shows. I was wondering if any old film clips are still available. Sometimes, he was Freddy Blassy's tag team partner. He passed away in 1977.We would love to have an old picture from back then. Thanks, Joel Shipp
Thank you for giving me a look back at the most wonderful time in wrestling,I miss those days.It took me back to my cildhood and the sport I have always loved. Thanks.
Just enjoyed knowing that "kay Fabe" is alive and hope "mat burns" is alive also. Keep up the good work. Always a pleasure to hear from old friends. Dandy Jack Donovan
I visited your site, and I enjoyed it. Thanks for bring me back wonderful memories.
I would like to see of Dusty Wolfe my favorite wrestler Does Dusty Wolfe have family and birthday in wwf Where Dusty Wolfe live in Texas
I grew up with all of these promotions and that's what made me want to be a pro. This is the best site dedicated to wrestling and how it should be that I have seen. Many kudos!
interested in finding out the whereabouts of the following, Crazy Chris colt, the origanal shiek, bobo brazil, wiper billy watson jr., ray stevens, johnny valient, don moroco, black jack mulligan, bob backlund, jimmy snuka, ricky steamboat, jay youngblood, big john stud, fred blasie, nick bockwinkle, the shiek of the awa, greg valentine, harley race, buzz sawyer, roddy piper, and if anyone can come up with some other wrestlers of the 80's and early 90's please let me know. Really interested in corresponding with wrestling fans of this era.
This is truly an awesome site.Bring back alot of memories for me.Espically, those from the Southeast/Continental area.
I am really enjoying this site. I was born and raised in Mississippi in the 60's through the early 80's and my family took summer vacations in the Florida Panhandle. In all that I was exposed to several different promotions' TV shows including, but not limited to, Mid-South Championship Wrestling, Deep South Wrestling, Mid-South Championship Wrestling, Florida Championship Wrestling, Southeast Championship Wrestling. This site has brought back a lot of memories of those shows watching Superstar Bill Dundee, the Fullers, Bob Armstrong, the Mongolian Stomper, Mike "the Hippy" Boyette, Sputnik Monroe, Cowboy Bob Kelly, Grizzly Smith, Cowboy Bill Watts, Jerry Lawler, Gordon Solie & Lance Russell (my two favorite announcers), Mr. Wrestling 2, the Freebirds (loved them coming out to Skynyrd), Norvell Austin, Sugarbear Harris, the Grahams, Jerry Stubbs, the Great Mephisto, Skandar Akbar, Jimmy "Boogie Woogie Man" Valiant, the Junkyard Dog, Percival Pringle III (my alltime favorite manager - he could work a crowd), Jimmy Golden and I could go on and on if I had more time. Great site reading the stories of days gone by. I thoroughly enjoy it and will visit more often.
This is a great website! Keep up the good work.
I'M HOOKED!! I've been on your site a few times now and I've told every one I know about you guys. Thanks for the links to some older wrestlers sites,I have been able to access some stars I liked and some I hated but I enjoyed watching them all.I WISH YOU MUCH SUCCESS.
Just dropped by to read Tom's stories.. and stayed for about 4 hours looking over the site.. it is a top site for me to go to now. Mike Bowman (AKA) Mean Mike Masters
I found the site while net surfing while on vacation. Have enjoyed all that I have read so far. Only negative comment is that there is cover of the Detroit area (unless I have missed it). My interest in pro wrestling began in 1957 (TV) and I saw my first lives matches at the old Olympia Stadium in 1959 (card headlined by the Bruiser and Wilbur Snyder with another match featuring Lou Thesz).
I used to love watching World Class Championship Wrestling, especially the Von Erichs and Sunshine. Looking to buy anything and everything that has to do with them, ie. tapes, posters, photos, t-shirts, etc. Feel free to email me if you want to talk about WCCW, the Von Erichs, and Sunshine.
You Have A Very Good web.site can keep with all the News
man i'm really a big wrestling fan, i've kept up with it for the past 3 decades, but i haven't got to see the promotions i really like.i never know what channels the programs are on, such as: uswa when it used to be on, or uwf, smw, or even all/new japan!!! i mean of course wwf/wwe was on, and nwa/wcw too, then ecw for a couple of months, then again on espn i watched a couple of gwf shows!!but other than that in order to get news, or info about the promotions i like i had to either check out magazines, or watch this local program called wrestling power, but that quickly got shut down!!!now i have to rely on wrestlingsuperstore.com to order some uwf videos!!!if anyone out there knows how to get good deals on some smw, uwf, all japan, and new japan videos, please email me!!!!!!!!thanx!!
This site is by far the best i've seen in ages. The micro wrestlers are funny. The title belts was very interesting as I like to know all I can about them from what they look like to who has held them and where and when they was won. I would like to see your shop sell replica title belts past and present.
I have been a regular poster on this site for months now. As a manager for 24 years and a fan for 35 years this site is great. I've reaquainted myself with some old friends I haven't seen in years and made new ones. Talking about a time when wrestling was not only a lot better, but meant something to the fans and its workers.
I love this site! First time I've been here. I am linking it up on our site this weekend so others can enjoy the memories. I was just telling my girls yesterday about the Freebirds. I've been around wrestling all my life. I still miss the Georgia Championship Wrestling days. :( Thanks for the memories!
iv ref. in the southeast area for a long time and had a chance to be in the ring with a lot of big names like Hogan ,the giant, flair, fullers ,golden and many more and love every mile i drove to the towns iv been to ....
i always enjoy reading or hearing a story told by my good friend pp3.nobody tells it like him!
Unbelievable site! Keep up the great work!
Yo, Whattup?! Wrestling 4 life!
Awesome Site, i recommend it to all my friends that are fans of old wrestling, just one thing, add WCW,ECW,current WWF/WWE!
I enjoy coming to this web-site and looking back at soem fond memories of when wrestling was truely worthwhile, and I am proud to know that I can look back at the and remember the events from the best regional promotion ever, Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling. It was such a blast to see that Baby Doll had even posted here-SHE WAS/IS A HOTTIE!!!!
What a site! Anyone who cares about wrestling should visit here often. As a member of the smallest non-midget tag-team The Smurf's, and many other alter egos, this brings back many memories of friends (fans and workers)and good times that really were the best of times. Thank's
What a brilliant site! A refreshing change to the gossip filled wrestling sites that fill the web. Ideal website for old and new fans alike.
Just love the site, its great to see the territories live on and the memories are great. I would love to write a column on Frank Tunney's promotion here in Toronto, site of some of the greatest wrestling that I was was able to witness growing up in Toronto. Regards Andrew
live in louisville ky. went to wrestling every tuesday nite at the gardens where the man himself was on the card {hotstuff} when everybody else was yelling and screaming for the face [good guy]a buddy and i would do the same for the heel [bad guy]eddie was on the top of our list...he always made time for the fans talking with them ,signing autographs, taking pictures .he was a true professional inside and outside of the ring.. i grew up in fla. and seen some of the best in the business .but none like {hotstuff} eddie gilbert..he will truely be missed thanks skip yeatmanII
Do you have these belts for sale? The NWA belts I mean?
Shelton Sandifer
roy shire's S.F. promo was red hot in the late '60s, early '70s when i first started watching wrestling. with all the great stars that sold out the cow palace--also known as "the house that ray stevens built"--twice a month, i was always surprised how little coverage it received from the magazines. it was always exciting when wrestlers from other territories i only knew of from the magazines or from seeing on syndicated shows--for a while there was "championship wrestling from philadelphia" on local t.v.--would be hyped for shows like the annual battle royal. though L.A.'s battle royals always got the hype, roy shire's holiday extravaganzas booked like a pro wrestling hall of fame! great job in bringing back great memories not only of the local promo but others.
PS: i agree with the post above by joe barnes. what the hell is the L.A. writer talking about? i'd like to hear more about that great old wednesday night show on KTLA with the incomparable dick lane.
I JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE REMEMBERS JASON SENSATION??HES GREAT & I LOVE HIM
This is a fun site.My favorite area is and will always be The MID-ATALANTIC area. When Dusty was the head booker,he did everything he could to make the show move faster than the WWF.My favorite was Baby Doll, her run was done with taste and style. No one was more outraged than I was when she was hurt by Jim Cornette and The MIDNIGHT EXPRESS.She was,and still is a class act.Probably could give some lessons to the ladies in the WWF now.LONG LIVE BABY DOLL.I LOVE YOU!!!!
love your site. need reports from vcw shows. they run a lot of the old uswa towns.
Great site you have. Did Rick Rude ever face Hogan in a single match? The confrontations i know of were Tag team matches and the survivor series. Thanks for answering. tobi
I just wanted to compliment you on your wrestling site. I grew up in the Sunshine STate and remember watching my first C.W.F. with my grandmother. I wanted to wrestle. I completed wrestling school and have had several matches, but unfortunately being 5'8 and 200 lbs just doesn't make it in the big leagues. I decided recently that I will, as Gordon Solie states, re-lace up my boots
I just wanted to compliment you on your wrestling site. I grew up in the Sunshine STate and remember watching my first C.W.F. with my grandmother. I wanted to wrestle. I completed wrestling school, being trained by Jimmy Backlund a/k/a Jimmy DelRey, and have had several matches, but unfortunately being 5'8 and 200 lbs just doesn't make it in the big leagues. I decided recently that I will, as Gordon Solie states, re-lace up my boots. So, I am definitely impressed with your knowledge of Florida Wrestling the way it was.
Great site and a lot of memories of the best and worst of times, but the best of friends. MY OLD TAG TEAM PARTNER RANDY TYLER (REV. MONROE RICE DIED LAST WEEK OF A HEART ATTACK) I will miss him. God bless You Randy Rest in Peace. Bobby
Because my parents were in the restaurant business, I was able to meet many of the Southeastern wrestlers back in the 50's and 60's. I still have a few autographs from 1958 the likes of Mario Galento, Don Fields, Charlie Carr and I even have one from Ray Stevens. I grew up on 'Wrestling Live on Channel Five' WKRG in Mobile, AL. The hardest part was catching the live program from 10:30 to midnight and getting to the cafe to see the wrestlers when they returned from bouts in the area. Talk about a dilema! Mario Galento, the Fields family, the Monroes, the Fargos, Eduardo Perez, Rube Wright and so many more made stops at my parent's cafe. Vince, your site is wonderful. I've made new friends who grew up on the Gulf Coast Championship Wrestling the same as me. I hope to meet Bill Moody and Diamondmd in the future. Along with 'Ken Carson and Michael Calloway, one can relive his youth simply reading the articles and enjoying all they have to offer. I miss those days so much when it was true wrestling. Thank you so very much for this site. Respectfully submitted this day, Aug. 9, 2002 TP
Summerslam 1988 was tight.
Hollo
Just wanted to say that you are doing a wonderful job keep up the good work this has brought back a lot of fond memories of my wonderful days on the road
Donna Christantello or Christanello for the north east fans
Hey Vince... the site just keeps getting better and better... Keep it up. Khris Germany
This site is a gem. As a kid, I remember watching Florida Wrestling Tuesday nights 11pm on spanish station WNJU-TV, Channel 47 in New Jersey. I also remember watching Saturday midnight wresling on WOR-TV channel 9 in NYC. Vince McMahon was then working for his father as a westling announcer and he was always annoying. This was a wonderful look back. It really brought back some great memories. Keep it up!!
Great site-brought bach memories of matches in Lincoln & Omaha Nebraska featuring Mad Dog Vachone, The Shiek, Crusher, Verne Gagne, etc. and watching TV of regional wrestling out of Omaha.. Thanks!!
What a great place! My friend Wendy and I use to hang out with Chris and Mark Youngblood when they would come down to the Sportitorium. Man, I can tell those stories are from Chris! It just sounds like him. I got married about two years ago, but do think of Mark and Chris from time to time, and REALLY miss the friendship we shared (and all the margarita's at Two Peso's on Greenville Ave)! If he, or anyone he knows every reads the guest book, my email address is parker.jules@verizon.net (Be sure to put the dot in between the parker and the jules as it goes to someone else if you don't). Sure is great to see that all is well with him! What a great sight this is!
Pampero Firpo interview conducted 12/29/73 at the Cleveland Sports Arena (3717 Euclid Ave before being torn down and replaced with the current Greater Cleveland Red Cross chapter) intended for input (w photos) to your web site
This site is so awesome!!!It's about time there was a site for the old regional territories.People today don't realize if it wasn't for these places, wrestling would've never gotten to where it is today.Keep up the good work!
The Von Erich boys was always my favorate. Its a shame they had to die there way they did. They will always be in my heart today and always
Loved the Dick the Bruiser info from WWA, AWA, and old St Louis territory.
Man, I sure do miss the old school stuff.
I KNEW DONNIE FARO WHEN HE WAS IN CLEVELAND, OHIO IN THE 1970'S WITH RON MARTINEZ AND JACK REYNOLDS. DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW IF DON FARGO IS STILL AROUND AND WHERE HE IS NOW! THANKS. ARLENE

Izzy Slapowitz contact me!!------KM love the site as I'm a historian of Florida 60's as I grew up in Tampa.Worked for Poffo's I.C.W.for 3 years in office with Judy Poffo. Most Randy Savage photos pre-WWF days were shot by myself.Did all the I.C.W. stories in "Wrestling News" magazines.
Great site-can't get enough old school stuff. I fondly remember when it was still called pro wrestling-not "sports entertainment"[what the hell does that mean, anyway? To me, a baseball or hockey game could be called sports entertainment.] Keep up the great work-PRO WRESTLING forever.
Love the site. Thanks
The best part was looking at the past and present wrestling belts as they evolved over the years. From little junky things to big beautiful pieces of artwork....so awesome!! I loved the micro wrestlers as well,...neat concepts. I'd like to try to design a few myself.
I just found your web site while perusing the 3PW web site(I was at a card last night-Sat.-) and was impressed with what I saw so far. I first became a wrestling(NOT 'sports entertainment') fan when I saw it on TV in April 1968 at the age of 14(I'm now 48). My late grandfather took me to my first live card in June 1969 at the Philadelphia Arena(since burned down). Back then, the W.W.W.F. was a regoinal territory, and we saw many cards in local high school gyms and small arenas. In the early 70's, the Saturday morning W.W.W.F. programs also had competition from the N.W.A.'s Champoinship Wrestling from Florida with Gordon Solie, and I got to see the difference of wrestling coverage between competing territories. I began reading any magazine I could get my hands on about wrestling so I could keep track of the territories I could not see on TV. Even though I am ingrained in WWF(E) territory, I like to know about ALL promotions. During the 80's, I could not go to live matches anymore because of my work schedule, but in Dec. 1990 I was drawn to a card by a small Philly promotion called the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance(TWA)which gave me an incentive to go to live matches again. TWA went out of business in Jan. 1992, only to be succeeded by Eastern Championship Wrestling(soon to be EXTREME). I witnessed the birth of Extreme, and saw many great stars at the ECW Arena. I read through a couple of promotion sites and relived the memories of when I saw them on TV, such as AWA, WCCW, GWF, Bill Watts'UWF (Even Herb Abrhams' UWF). I have so many memories of my life as a wrestling fan that it would take all night to post them all, so I'll just say 'good-bye' for now. Thanks again for a great site which I will certainly visit again.

Great website! Man, does this bring back memories! When I was a young lass back in the early to mid-60s, my father used to take me to the wrestling matches at the old Chicago Amphitheater - nothing but the best ringside seats for us. Saw all the old-style wrestlers, but Wilbur Snyder was my favorite. My two best memories of that time was having the hot-dog (with lots of mustard) that I had thrown into the ring land right in Bobby Heenan's face, and my father getting Snyder's autograph for me when we parked next to him before the show. He got out of his Cadillac, my father got out of our car at the same time, and my father said, "Hey Snyder, sign dis for the kid..." - and he did, no questions asked.

uncle mario this is a cool sit but where can i find stuff on me.lol. talk to you later
This is a really great site. Someone actually took the time to do some research. I started wrestling in 1969, at age 16, in small-town promotions in Alabama run by my father. Eventually, my brother and I teamed and had a pretty sucessful career with the Nick Gulas-Roy Welch-Joe Denaburg organization. This was the (really) old N.W.A. My brother and I worked as the Blue Infernos, an old team whose name was revived by Nick Gulas. As my Dad's promotion became larger, we worked full-time for him. His company was called All-Pro Wrestling. Many well-known wrestlers got their start with my Dad. I'd like to see how many of these guys remember their REAL roots. Please feel free to E-Mail if you're in this group. I'd like to hear from you.

I worked for Jim Crockett Sr. in the early fifties. The Becker brothers , Bobby and George, along with Tex Riley were some of the boys in the territory at the time. Many years later I did some TV announcing for the younger Crockett in Hamilton. I am now a certified Hypnotherapist and enjoys life to the fullest.

This is a most informative website. Thanks for the memories. I'm trying to locate the wrestler CHIC DONOVAN. He wrestled for Georgia Championship Wrestling as The Golden Boy. I've heard he runs a gym near Atlanta. Can anyone help me out here?
I THINK THIS IS A PRETTY COOL SITE I LIKE THE PART ON DENNIS STAMP THE GUY IS REALY COOL I TALKED TO HIM ON THE PHONE A FEW TIMES >> HES 1
What an entertaining website! Reliving classic wrestling moments from the text on the computer screen is better than watching the monopoly that has seized this once great sport! Thank you!
What a great site! I have really enjoyed looking through all your archives and the memories it has brought back from when I was a kid! You all keep up the great work and I'm sure I'll be back! Still have a lot of ground to cover here!
The sheik, dick the bruiser, flyn' fred curry all use to wrestle in the Toledo, Lima Ft Wayne area. Is there any information on these retired stars. I spoke with Dick the Bruiser a couple of months prior to his death.
You've got an awesome site. I've been a wrestling fan for 13 years. thanks for the juicy infos.
I think you have a special website here. Keep up the good work. Young wrestling fans need to read about the wrestlers who made the sport as great as it is today. I would love to read an interview with Austin Idol talking about his great wrestling career.
It is amazing the people from all over the world visit this site. I'll have a new story coming soon. I got to see some old friends in Dalton,Ga. the other month. I seen Ricky Morton,Buddy Landel and Mike Jackson It was great, they all looked good. Keep up the good work Vince!!!!!!!

An Awesome site, something I will return to often.
I Love that site it was cool.I wish you could get a site on here for Baby Doll.
This is a wonderful site. It brought back memories of watching wrestling, sitting on my father's lap and being bucked off every time he got excited. Thank God for a chair with padded arms! It's wonderful to read about all the people my father would tell me about and the ones I'd see growing up. Names like George "The Animal" Steele, Bobo Brazil, Dick The Bruiser, etc... Bring back memories of a happier time when you didn't have to worry about the problems of the world, but the family was glued to the TV to see if their favorite wrestler would survive another day.
God Bless You All.
i am a big fan of the nwa. me and my wife are ric flair fans my wife is from north carolina and we love traditional wrestling
I started watching wrestling in 1972. I've watched this business change so many times, and not always for the better. I miss the days I spent as a kid on Long Island staying up past 11:00 to watch Bruno and Pedro ... John Tolos from LA on Channel 41 (the Spanish station in NJ) ... remember Mascaras and the IWA in the late 70s, early 80s? ... Victor Rivera juicing for all his worth ... Gordon Solie teaching me what wrestling commentary SHOULD sound like ...
Great site, brings back memories of a much simpler time, I think for ALL of us. I'll be back a lot.
when I was a kid I used to go to WKRG in Mobile on saturday nights for wrestling live on channel 5. Lee & Bobby fields were always great to us kids and always took time for autographs and a kind word. kids today need such positive influences, it's a shame they're not here antmore

This has quickly become one of my favourite sites. I feel like a kid again reliving those years especially the florida region which i grew up watching.
This is a great website for those who are interested in Wrestling history.
Keep it up guys, you've done a good job on this!
I grew up in Toronto, Ontario. I can't believe that the individual, who is writing about Frank Tunney's promotion failed to mention Whipper Watson, the perennial British Empire champion, and Lord Athol Layton, the babyface TV commentator. Both of these immensely popular individuals provided the spark that made this such a great promotion. Hope there are future stories about both.

Interesting site - I am the daughter of the late Ray and Ann Gunkel. If you never need any info, please send me an e-mail. Thanks!
I like this site. It brings back memories of going to the Wheeling Civic Center to see the old WWF. Great Site.
As a retired independent wrestler, I have searched the web for a good site that doesn't glorify the garbage that is on TV today. I miss wrestling the way it used to be and so do many other people. To have it thrown into the face of fans the world over that wrestling is 'scripted' was a nice touch at first, but it will backfire. I can't wait until we see kayfabe again.
I see my name being bandied about a bit by those who loved St. Louis wrestling. Quite an honor to be remembered after so many years! Thanks!
The site is very interesting. Hats off to all the wrestlers who put heart and soul into something that they have made a living legend! Always remember you are never forgotten. GREAT SITE!
I was born and raised in Chicago. Your site brought back a lot of memories. Good work!!!

I love Kayfabe Memories eventhough I am only 14, professional wrestling is my life & my dad got me into old school professional wrestling when I was little & fell in love with Da' Crusher, Andre the Giant, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, the Road Warriors, & one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, the "Macho Man" Randy Savage. Thanks for the great "Kayfabe Memories"!
Great site - visit everyday -
I grew up in N.T., which is 12 miles south of Niagara Falls and 12 miles north of Buffalo. I started watching wrestling at age 13. Buffalo was under the control of the National Wrestling Federation (owned by Pedro and Ron Martinez, then by Johnny Powers and finally by Antonio Inoki (who abandoned the U.S. and took the promotion to Japan)
Being in Buffalo I also got to see WWWF wrestling (on early cable out of NYC), Maple Leaf Wrestling out of Toronto (pre-WWF days), and for about a year CFTO (Ch.9 out of Toronto) showed PNW wrestling out of Vancouver on either wednesday or thursday mornings at around 1 AM). On this program I got to see the likes of Dutch Savage, Gene Kiniski, Bulldog Brown, Dean Higuchi (the future Dean HO in WWWF), Buck Ramstead, etc.
I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers Vancouver wrestling or NWF from those days.
MARK
Very excellent site here! Really appreciate it. How about adding Andy Kaufman to your Wrestlers section?
Where's my mask??

This is a great site. Congratulations on making such a place for fans and wrestlers to recollect the good ole' days. Keep up the good work.
In the article written about Eddie Sullivan, I would like to add that I too remember Eddie. He was a super guy. One of my fondest memories of Eddie is when he had those shirts made up, that read, Eddie, Mr. Big Stuff, Sullivan. I proudly wore mine to a couple of matches. He and Rip were the greatest pair ever. I will miss them both.
Excellent site brother. Now this is wrestling the way it should be. I am a great admirer of Old School wrestling and that's the way I work in the ring. Hat's off to all the great Old School wrestlers.
I started as a wrestling fan in Richmond, Va . I remember the first live event, which was 1964. I've seen alot of wrestling sites and on line magazines, but this is by far superior. I will have to thank 93.3 for turning me on to this site. Regards
I'm the son of Tony white eagle who wrestled in the stampede wrestling from approximately 70-74 and i would like to find any footage of him if anyone out there has any of that era.My father quit before i was born.
Awesome website! Although I'm only 18{and started watching wrestling in mid '97},I am really interested in pro wrestling's history. Your site has great wrestler bios{including some of my all-time faves:Flair,Rude,Orndorff,Arn,Harley,Muta, etc.} Your site was EXTREMELY helpful in "brushing up" my AWA history-I find it quite sad that my two favorite "old" feds{ECW and AWA} no longer are in business. Unfortunately, low attendance and lack of talent killed both off. But,thanks to your website-i can see just how cool AWA was "back in the day". Keep up the good work! thanks!
Great website. Bringing back a lot of memories for me from when I was just a little girl and watching Adrian Street and The Party Patrol on CCW and also Rock & Roll Express and Tracy Smothers on SMW. Glad to have found my way here.

This is really a great site! Myself being a Wrestling Announcer for many years could contribute to this site if you wish. Remember the old Buffalo NY Wrestling Territory with Pedro Martinez as Promotor? Lots of neat stories and photos and maybe a peak into the future!!!Best Regards, RICK GATTONE.
I am an Indy wrestler, and have been involved with the Indy scene off and on for the past 20 years. Found this site while browsing the web. It is an awesome site! Keep up the great work!

Finally found Mick Foley interests!!! Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank You so much on the r.i.p page on Billy Joe Travis, He was like a brother to me and will be greatly missed.
Kayfabe Memories is a great site! There's SO much history of the various territories and new information is constantly added and contributed by some great wrestling historians. It's definitely inspired me to dig into the old newspapers and find match results for my hometown. Another great plus is the message board, which is frequented by some knowledgeable fans from the different territories. Vince has done a superb job!

Best wrestling site i've ever seen. Great pics of all the belts. Some more pics would be nice but this is as close to the perfect wrestling site as it gets!!!!
This site is great. I hate the current WWE product, with the exception of Kurt Angle.
Great website. I especially love the section devoted to JCP from 86-89. I hope that one day I can share with everyone the story of Larry Zbyszko and my "meeting" in Charlotte.
Keep up the good work!

Thanks for providing the places for our memories.
The article on the Grahams, Basteins, Tolos Brothers was outstanding. Great memories of my childhood. Over the last several years, I have worked the independents as a manager, promoted several shows and now do color commentary for a small independent organization ECPW in northern NJ.You had to see the wrestlers mentioned in this article to appreciate them.

Your article was hilarious. You actually made Luger sound like a credible superstar. The problem was that in your bio, Hogan had done all that before. Luger isn't in Hogans league let alone dimension. I would say Luger is the luckiest man ever to have stepped into the squared circle. Why didn't he main event WM10? He sucked, just ask a lethargic Bret Hart!
Percy Pringle Rocks!
GOOD SITE! lETS KEEP THE TRUE ART OF WRESTLING ALIVE. I HAVE MET A LOT OF THE GREATS SUCH AS GREG VALENTINE,JAKE ROBERTS,KING KONG BUNDY,PAUL ORNDORF, AND THE GREATEST ROWDY RODDY PIPER. OUT WITH THE NEW AND BACK WITH THE OLD.
I'm priviledged to be a part of this great sport. It's great to see the legends I watched so many years ago.
This brings back wonderful memories from childhood. All the wrestlers from "old Mid-south" were simply the best..JYD, Mr Olympia,Col. Buck Robley..The list is endless. My sincere thankyou goes out to all of the wrestlers who signed autographs,or shook my hand. The encounters with you all outside those dressing rooms are something the children who watch WWE today is something they will never experience.
bandt.yoll.net
Great site!My very earliest memories are of Dick The Bruiser The Sheik Pampero Firpo etc who worked around the Toledo/Ft Wayne area in the early -mid 70s.I have one question though.....i seem to recall in the mid 70s around this area,a tag team who i believe were called "The Legionnares".I think one of the members was named Jaques Goulet maybe? All i remember is they wore those French Foreign Legion type hats and were pretty effective heels.Anyone else remember these guys?
It's wonderful to see that others are interested in something other than Mc Mahons circus. I grew up in Portland, Oregon and was a regular at the Owens' promotions for many years, eventually becoming the official photographer for many of the stars in the area. My friendships with the late Jonathan Boyd, Beauregarde, Maurice "Mad Dog" Vachon, Anthony "Tony" Osbourne, Roddy Piper, the late Lonnie Mayne and many others bring back memories I will always treasure. Vachon was a neighbor (Jack Brisco later lived in the same apartment after Vachon left) and his son Michael was in my Mother's Cub Scout den. Use to have a crush on his daughter Linda. Don't know if she ever went into the wrestling business though. When the promotion moved from the Portland Armory to the Portland Sports Arena (an old bowling alley), they had this big wooden cutout of Andre the Giant at the front entrance. I also remember the occaisional mice in the popcorn (yuk!) at the concession stand. I also remember Dutch Savage getting mad at me for something or other and throwing me from the crows nest (I survived)and the time Sandy Barr (the concessions owner and a referee and former wrestler himself) thjrowing me up against the wall for honing in on his photography business. About the time Buddy Rose was in town, I'd gotten out of the photography business and into the music business. I was playing in a Punk Band called The Cleavers and we recorded a 45 called "Playboy Buddy Rose". I was in a Portland record store with my Dad about three years ago, and after I inquired if the owner had a copy, he said no, but informed us that he saw it for sale in a magazine auction for $40! My Dad was impressed. I'd stayed pretty much out of the business and then one day when I got home, my roomate told me that I had a phone call. It was from Johnny Boyd. After all those years out of town, he was back and wanted me to do some more publicity photos. I was impressed that he even remembered me after all that time. (He'd been down south, I think). Later on I was planning on writing a book about my memoirs of Portland Wrestling, but as time went on, I learned that Stan Stasiak had passed away. A short while later a friend sent me an obituary for Johnathan Boyd. I had ignored wrestling for a long time. Hulk Hogan just never did anything for me. Then one day I was flipping channels and came across some wrestling show from the south. There was the usual blond shooting off his mouth, but this guy had charisma and in a way, reminded me of the old Gorgeous George. That fellow was Rick Flair and i've been a fan ever since. Don't get me wrong. There's some wonderful wrestlers out there today (Flair, Brett Hart, Chris Benoit), but I'd still take the old school over what they present today as wrestling.
Great site, I wish there were more stories available from workers of my era 1975-presant.I am a huge mark for Mid-Atlantic Wrestling from this era!
i thnink this site is great and hope that is stay on for along time...i like ready about the funks knowin they r my mentors of wrestling.
I have seen a lot of web-sites on wrestling history, and this is quite possible as good as it gets. This sight is a must for any long-time wrestling fan. It gives insight into the time when the average event was in a highschool gym, not the largest arenas in the country. Great Job and Thanks!
LOVE THE STUFF ON BEAUTIFUL BOBBY! USE TO WATCH HIM A FEW YEARS BACK. JUST NEVER KNEW WHAT HAD HAPPEN TO HIM!
LOVE THE STUFF ON BEAUTIFUL BOBBY! WAS WONDERING WHERE HE WAS NOW!

You have a beautiful collection of memories. What a great service for those of us who used to love wrestling. Is Scott really leaving his Mid South column? I'd be honored to replace him.
Just to let everyone know I'm working hard on the Team Pat Rose web-site. I'm working on a page now,if you would like to see it www.geocities.com/teampatrose1/teampatrosepage.html or www,geocities.com/teampatrose1/classic_blue.html Thanks, Pat Rose
I used to wrestle under the name Handsome Johnny Starr in the Indiana territory. I managed Ox Baker and Big John Studd, among others. I would love to hear from fans and former wrestlers.
fuckin shite
Scott Bowden is a sexy bitch
the Bret Hart screw job was a disgrace ! WWF well WWE as they call it now has been shit since the whole invasion angle ! this is true !
rey mysterio is amazing to watch
I enjoyed your article on Moondog Mayne. He always put on a great show. How he could eat glass, I'll never know. Sorry to hear about the Shiek. Another one of my favorites. Rest in peace!!! Moondog, Shiek, and Jim Hady thanks for the memories!!!!
I'd heard about KFM.com for a long time, but never made the time to come visit. So glad I did-this feels like home. Awesome site for whoever is doing it and is involved. Running one of the Sheik's fan clubs in the 60's, I was moved by seeing his photo from the get-go. What a legend we lost in Eddie. Miss him terribly. Mike Lano, wrestling photojournalism worldwide since time began

i grew up watching gulfcoast wrestling and its awesome to find a website that lets me relive the old daze
I thought that you all did not have enough wrestler in this web site. Maybe if you had more wrestlers you would do a lot better.......... Thank you Jacquelyn Strickaland

What a great site! Thank you for providing this superb venue! Propelled by dedication, interest, and deep love of wrestling, I salute KAYFABE MEMORIES as a model tribute to all of Professional Wrestling. Indeed its past but also its present, and its future! And many thanks to all who have contributed to the success and growth of this WRESTLING NECESSITY. My Dad the "Baron" would be proud of this great body of work. Announcer, Rick Gattone-"Baron Gattoni's" son.
As a long time student old "old school" I feel at home, at last. Thanks for making this site the "Mecca" for what is a sweet series of memories.
huh?
I have followed wrestling as early as 1970. I had heard about Paul Boesch's book before and have looked for it. This is a great site that tells a real inside part of the life of a wrestler and a great promoter. Paul, Thanks for the wonderful memories. Keep up the great work on this site. I will return many more times.
This is great and thanks so much for the review of Hey Boy, Where'd You Get Those Ears? Keep up the great work. I have followed wrestling since 1970.
I am the daughter of Kurt Von Hess. Thank you for writing a small story on him. It is nice to see that my father is remembered in the wrestling world whether he was a heal not. He was a gentle, kind man who is sadly missed by all.
Thank you,
Paige Sutherland

I sure miss watching wrestling from the late 70's -mid 80's. Esp Georgia Championship Wrestling. The whole NWA. "You dont know what you had till its gone." That is soo true today. It seems those days are gone 4ever. You know what? That sucks! Everytime I think of my teenage years---I cant help but think of wrestling. Thanks for the good times.

The site is one of my personal favorites. I try and visit aleast once a day reading up on differnt events. It's kewl learning about todays legend when they where rookies. Learning what feuds made them is always a plus.
Great trip down memory lane with classic Stampede Wrestling of the 70s and 80s. Good job!!!
By the way, John Foley's son was named Orel Foley. I remember Johnny Smith put a damper on his first Stampede appearance by announcing, after Orel's victorious debut, that Orel came to Calgary after being banned from wrestling in England!
Great, great site!! Should you wish to promote it further please submit your url to http://www.1heluva.com/cgi-bin/join.cgi?refer=14292

I was looking up the history of WWWF and I see where Buddy Rodgers was the first champion in 1963 but my question is when did the promotion acctually start? From what I found it is somewhere between 1959 and 1963 but I can not find an exact date. Would you have the answer? Thanks.
Great site keep up the good work.
I was glad to come across this page, it brought back the true meaning of wrestling, not todays soap opera wrestling. Thanks BEAR
I came here to see if the school was still in business, but its not that sucks, but o well im goin to WWA4 in Atlanta to learn the ropes, wish me luck thanks

I AM SORROWFUL TO HEAR SOMEONE SO YOUNG IS TAKEN. I, MYSELF, SUFFER FROM A SLEEP DISORDER AND ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THESE AND DON'T KNOW IT OR THEY ARE NOT WANTING TO SEE A DOCTOR ABOUT IT. WHEN I READ THAT EDDIE DIED IN HIS SLEEP, I WONDERED IF HE HAD ANY SIGNS OF A SLEEP DISORDER. WHERE IS BABY DOLL? I FOUND YOUR SITE TO TELL ME HER NAME AFTER SO MANY YEARS OF TRYING TO REMEMBER IT. GOD BLESS! HE IS COMING SOON! I URGE YOU TO READ JOHN 3:16 IN THE BIBLE. THIS WAY ALL OF US CAN MAKE SURE WE MAKE THE JOURNEY WE NEED TO, WITHOUT BEING TURNED AWAY. CALL ME CENDER!
i sit here with tears in my eyes... true love we all share.
I am trying to find info on Ratamyus. Do you happen to have any info on where he is now, what ever happened to him, or any pictures of him?
This site is mad cool! Microwrestlers are awesome in particular, but the stories are outstanding! Keep it up!
Thanks for the memories!!!!!!!!Finding your site is a treat. I remembered so many matches I had the privilege of seeing. My Dad took us to every wrestling card he could find, from Asheville to Charlotte to Greenville SC. I love the fact that I'm not the only one who appreciates everything those athletes did. I remember standing in line for tickets at the Asheville Civic Center and seeing Ric Flair standing next to me, buying a ticket for the "cheap seats". What a thrill it was for me..... Thank you again for this wonderful sight......I have it stored under my favorites
Pat, Good luck fishing and remember those fish do not have hands so set the hook hard.

Imagine my surprize when I tried to find any evidence of my older brothers wrestling past. My brother Stan Holek was one half of the tag team of the Lisowski brothers. I was all of 4 years old when he hooked up with Reg Lisowski after ending his partnership with Art Neilson. I am now 51 years old myself and remember fondly those times when I was growing up. Stan and Reg would come home and bleach their hair down in the basement. I got to go with Stan to Cobo Hall in Detroit and meet the likes of Dick the Bruiser, The Sheik, Don Leo Jonathon, Wilbur Snyder and the list goes on. I still have some of the old magazines from the 50's and some personal photo's. Stan is currently living in Nevada at the ripe old age of 68 and still doing the things he likes, Riding horses and ranching(he moved from wrestling to cowboy to become California BullDog Champ). I appreciate your web site and would be happy to reply to anyone wanting any more info on some of the "old boys" from that era. Dan Holek
An excellent site all around. I've thoroughly enjoyed taking a look at the promotions and superstars from years past.
I've been a wrestling fan since the age of three, when I began watching Maple Leaf Wrestling with my grandfather.
Wrestling has, of course, changed quite a bit since then.
However, when overlooking the history of the business, one sees how many of the angles currently employed today were first used by the smaller promotions back in days past.
Everything old is truly new again.
"THE" place to go for all of the old school memories and topics. Excellent website for the old school fan to visit.

GREAT SITE!!!!!!!!! Nothing is BETTER!!!!
Thanks for keeping wrestling past alive
I am active duty military serving in Korea. I stumbled upon your site after typing Nikita Kollof into the search engine and I was pleasantly surprised to find this site. I think this is a great site and very informative. I too miss the days of wrestling telling a story. I lived in florida when I was younger (I am 27 now) and I remember Championship Wrestling from Florida! It was packed with a lot of talent and I saw the debut of Lex Luger when I was there. A lot of my friends who watch wrestling now who were brought up on the WWF don't understand when I talk about how wrestling used to be regionial and that they had there own seperate champions as well as a reconigized NWA champ!Don't even get me started on how when I mention the AWA all the blank stares I get. I am and always will be an avid wrestling fan but I miss the way it used to be. To me it felt has if the fans really and honestly cared who won the matches and that you could feel the emotions of the crowd. I loved the Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat matches(who doesn't) , the Rock N Roll Express vs The Russians and for some reason I totally marked out for the Flair/Garvin finish. I am a huge Nature Boy fan. I just want to say thank you for this site. It is really interesting to hear about other terratories and the ins and outs of the business and to hear what the wrestlers and other people associated with the business have to say. Keep up the good work!!!!
I LOVE THIS SITE!!!!!!
GReat site!!!! The best info on my favorite of all time....Reggie CRUSHER" Lisowski Thanks
Watching Verne Gagne's "All Star Wrestling" on Milwaukee local area television and attending AWA shows at the Milwaukee Auditorium during the 1970's and '80's is a defining childhood experience for me. I love what you have on AWA history within your site currently - I look forward to seeing more AWA wrestler profiles in the future!

Do you have any information the Americas Heavyweight title from the AWA in the mid-80's? I believe Sgt. Slaughter won in it a 1 day tournament and eventually lost it to Larry Zybysko (who killed it ... like the Western States Heritage title, AWA title, etc)
Just a follow up to my previous signing - Mick Karch's memories of the AWA made for enjoyable reading. I hope to see further updates from him as I return to the site.
Does Mick have any specific memories of Rodger Kent? (I still use a phrase I picked up from listening to his play by play on "All Star Wrestling" - "He doesn't know if he is foot or horseback!!"
Hello id ihave a question? Is the fred avery who writes the stuff real or is he the fake wannabe? Cuz the real fred avery is a coach and iss teacher at my school so if it is the real him i'd like to know the name of the school hes at
he might know me as Reginald T.
I have to say that the web site just keeps getting better and better all the time. This web site is a breath of fresh air for those of us who miss the territory days. I am 100 percent old-school and will stay that way! I really miss SMW, the USWA and the GWF very much. I'm also trying to get in contact with both James Beard and Jon Horton (Craig Johnson) by e-mail. Any help from you, Vince, would be greatly appreciated. I am now involved in the pro wrestling business as a researcher here in Idaho while my partner is the promoter in Dalton, Georgia. Who would ever think that I would become actually involved in this crazy business I love so much? Anyway, keep up the great work on Kayfabe Memories!
Brian Westcott Assistant Director of Wrestling Operations and Information Bank The Wrestling Company http://www.brianrich.net/wrestle.html (by the way, you're free to use any title history information from my web site)

Super, super site. Very well done indeed. Should you ever wish to promote it further and reach thousands of more "fans" please submit your url to http://www.1heluva.com/cgi-bin/join.cgi?refer=15560
Incredible site!!! I'm 27 years old and have followed this sport since the tender age of 3 way back in 1979 when my older brothers sat me down in front of the tv with the hopes of keeping me out of their way. Georgia Championship Wrestling was on and I was hooked. I grew up on a healthy diet of Crockett NWA, World Class, AWA and Bill Watt's UWF, never getting swept away by Hulkamania, I instead rooted for guys like The Horsemen, Dusty and Magnum, Boogie Woogie Man, Paul Jones' Army, the freebirds, the Missing Link, Savannah Jack and Iceman King Parsons. Keep up the good work. It is sites like this one that will educated the future generations of what wrestling was like before it became the Corporate "Family Oriented" product it is today. And also, if there are any plans to do bios on the Valiants or The Missing Link, it would be appreciated. And does anyone have info on Randy and Bill Mulkey? I grew up watching these two get squashed every week and marked out big time when they actually won. I'd like to know where they are now and how they feel about their role in wrestling.
Old School Forever Brian
I've followed this business since 1969, and have seen all the greats and near greats through the years.
This website in an INVALUABLE resource for any old school wrestling fan!
i really liked this site
For whoever is in charge of the KM Belt gallery. Please go to HarleyRace.com and then click on the link for the tribute to The Shiek. Once done; you will find two photos of The Shiek with the Original U.S. Championship Belt he wore from 1963 to 1971. It would be nice if you would add this to the belts from the Detroit area. Thank You
I love all kinds of wrestlings. Wrestling rocks baby. It kicks ass.
A fantastic site, I really enjoyed poking around. And everything loaded great. Question...are there any books out there that run down the history of the AWA, with pictures?
Super, super site. Very well done indeed!
What a great site! I love reading the stories and history of the old Territories.
Keep up the good work!
your story on eddie gilbert almost brought a tear to a grown man of 40 years. alot of great memories in that story . eddie sure did give us a lot of great ones that will never be forgotten. what a great website look foward to visiting again. keep up the good work....
Nice site I have been on for hours and brings back a lot of old memories of monday nights in Greenville S.C. I remember Rip Hawk and Swede Hanson , Taking on George Becker and if my memory is right (I was 4 years old , my grand mother loved wrestling we never missed a monday night)his brother Bobby and later Johnny weaver, I could name for ever I am still a wrestling fan to this day , but my favorite was the super destoryer in the early 70s,If any one knows how to contact him let me know would love to drop him a line. To this day I watch wrestling and think about some of the matches him and Swede Hanson had and Saturday afternoos on ch4 in greenville , well thanks for reading and keep up the great site it makes you long for the days when wrestling was wrestling and not like one of the afternoon soaps.
KM IS THE VERY BEST IN WRESTLING NET SURFING.GO TO ALL THE SITE ON THE NET AND NOT GET THE WHAT YOU CAN OFF THIS ONE SITE..KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK. AL HENDERSON( PROMOTER OF SOUTHERN PRO WRESTLING)

Fantastic site. Keep up great work.
An awesome site, brings back many memories of the great days of wrestling
great stories, very true in most cas.not a fan of the name of your web site, as you know.last tangle in tamp, my first big production-- people paid 33,247, i have the org. check up sheet, with pay-off jim barnett made the pay off-- after that show eddie turned them over to me. the midnight rider also won nwa title from flair in miami, had to give it back. president bob gigal was ref. dream
great idea for this web site but why not the same in french... i'm the nephew of Andre the Giant.
Most comprehensive wrestling site i have seen. I grew up when wrestling was real. I still have nightmares of the sheik and the butcher in Detroit, I have seen and still have all the origonal programs from detroit in the 1970's. You must see a rental movie called I like to hurt people great memories. Thank you -
I grew up in North Carolina in the 50's & early 60's before moving to California. I miss those regional days of pro wrestling. Your site brings back so many memories of old time wrestling. Hey what happened to your Ric Flair section that was so extensive and referred to his WWF period that would be coming soon, and not no Ric Flair section at all!!
Been in pro wrestling for over 34 years...from Big Time Wrestling out of Michigan, and with Championship Wrestling out of Georgia. Just recently 'retired' from the NWF out of Cincinnati Ohio. Been with the best...the original Sheik, Les Ruffen, Pamparo Firpo, Bull/Fred Curry, Bobby Harmon, Ernie Roth, Jimmy Valliant, Don Kent, Dick the Bruiser, and recently with Roger Ruffen of the NWF. Those days it was WRESTLING, and I am sad to say, today it is NOT wrestling.
GREAT SITE!!! Brought back many memories of what REAL wrestling was like.....KEEP IT UP!!
i see a wrestler going by the name of brian lawler on n.w.a. i think ..what name do i know him by in the u.s.w.a.?..he always went ballistic when teased by the fans chanting "jerry's kid"
wow have liked and enjoyed all that i have saw keep up the good work may god bless
I've been out of the business 11 years now. Sure would like to hear from old friends. Your site is one of the best I've seen. I'm going to put together some stories for you. Might even write a book about ALL I know from the years I was in the business. How it really was. No one has really ever said How it really was. Keep up the good work.Anyone can e-mail me at embry1@webtv.net
This is truly an excellent site. The people here really have their facts straight which is a rarity for sites like this. Keep up the good work!
Great site.
I watched CCW when I was about 13. It didn't look as gaudy and fake as the WWF at the time to me, which is what I enjoyed the most... real gritty, with excellent plot interactions, wrestling. I was curious as to whatever happened to some of those wrestlers. Thank you for having this site.
I really enjoyed your site with all it's information. I grew up on wrestling and really can't stand what it has become in the past few years. Thanks for the memories. Punk Moore
In a day when everyone thinks they are "smart" to wrestling, it's nice to have something like KM to remind us of a time when kayfabe was enforced, there were no "marks" in the dressing room, and it was a privelge to be in the sport of pro wrestling.
A very well put together story on the Buffalo/Cleveland/Pittsburgh promotions. You may have guessed already that this was the geography that I started Announcing in! Great Memories!!! Best Regards, Rick Gattone, (Baron Gattoni's son) - Buffalo, NY.
You have an awesome website. You have helped to bring back a ton of great memories for me. I grew up watching W.W.A. wrestling in Indy. Dick the Bruiser; Crusher; Cowboy Bob Ellis; Bobo Brazil; Pepper Gomez; Baron Von Rasche; etc., etc. I even put out a wrestling/boxing newsletter in the mid-1980's. I miss the old regional promotions. I stopped watching wrestling altogether. It's just not the same at all. It's TOO much of a soap opera now. I really miss the "old days." Thanks for providing a great website.
Signed, Respectfully, Todd
