GCW #2 Page #2
However, Austin Idol was picked by the NWA to be special ref for the TBS match. It would seem that Sullivan would get the last laugh, right? Wrong. Match time came, and no Austin Idol. Sullivan realized that he and Davis had no chance without Idol as ref. The Freebirds pounded Sullivan and the inexperienced Davis and won the match in typical brutal fashion, injuring Davis. Later on, Idol showed up and was ready to referee. His reason for being tardy? He arrived late because he had to change a flat tire. Gordon Solie sternly told Idol that the match had already taken place. Hayes came out to the podium to crow about outsmarting Sullivan and Idol. "It’s not our fault that you had to change four flat tires and miss the match," Hayes laughed. Idol, of course, hadn’t mentioned that he had to change four flats. Hmmm.
NEXT MONTH:
We'll look at a certain Canadian billed from Scotland who joins Gordon Solie on commentary, and GCW wouldn’t be the same.
