ICW
always stressed an "Open Door
Policy", inviting champions and
competitors alike from the WWF, NWA and AWA,
as well as other promotions into their
territory to showcase their talents. The
WWC was the first organization to affiliate
themselves with ICW, and later, Championship
Wrestling from Florida and even the AWA would
have their top stars represented in the
Northeast.
ICW's
territory also expanded in the coming years
into New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
As time went on, some of today's top stars in
the industry would get their start in the
rings if International Championship Wrestling.
In future columns, I will look more closely at
these individuals.
NEXT
MONTH:
We
will take a look at the local talent from the
New England area that made an impact on ICW.
Most notably, we will discuss my dear friend,
the late "Boston Bad Boy" Tony
Rumble and his impact not only in ICW, but the
wrestling world as well.
Until
then, I'd like to wish all the readers of Kayfabe
Memories
a safe and happy Holiday season. See you
in 2001!
