He teamed up with Ivan Putski and did battle with the Dynamic Duo, this feud was short lived because the Duo had lost the tag team belts to Morton & Lucas and were trying to win back the titles.
Another newcomer to the area was the legendary Lou Thesz, who came in as the new commissioner of the Southwest area and right away had a quick impact on the territory. Along with Joe Blanchard Thesz was brining in some of the top talent and holding some great cards.
At this time SWCW was at its peak, attendance was doing good, and crowds were treated to some of the best action anywhere in the world. Little did many people in the area know was the best was still to come.
As promoter Joe Blanchard was trying his best to work with some of the best promotions in the country, by late 82 he had continued talks with the Houston promotion and was also trying to start a working relationship with the St. Louis office which was a major NWA stomping grounds and also in the works was an agreement to work with one of the top promotions anywhere... Georgia Championship Wrestling.
