After a TV match Tully came out of the crowd and attacked Funk with a claw hammer, injuring his ear, and few weeks later Tully still upset at not received a match for the SWCW title attacked Scott Casey with a cowbell. In the meantime Terry & Dory who were the SWCW tag team champions were forced to defend their titles, with Terry injured Larry Lane subbed for Terry in a title match Versus Ivan Putski & Wahoo McDaniel. After the win by Wahoo & Putski a few weeks later Wahoo vacated the SWCW to concentrate on the tag belts, a few weeks later a tournament was held to crown yet another SWCW champion. The winner of the tourney was Manny Fernandez who was to be a big star in the Southwest Area in the next few years, after holding the belt for a few months he was beaten by Dick Slater. On the tag side the Dynamic Duo - Tully & Gino Hernandez beat Wahoo and Putski to win the tag belts. 

As mentioned earlier a lot of top talent made stops in San Antonio and with the many stars in the area Southwest Wrestling was gaining popularity nationwide, but the promotion still just held cards in just Texas but the TV show was being shown all over the country. This bought in many wrestlers for all over the country to showcase their talents in the area, Houston promoter Paul Boesch was still working with SWCW and often made TV appearances providing commentary and doing interviews.

Tully and Gino were by far the top heels in the area and they lost the tag titles to the team of Manny Fernandez and Chavo Guerrero Sr, but they regained them back after a few months. After Terry Funk returned from his injury he had a brief feud with Tully but often had to fight off the interference of Gino Hernandez. The SWCW champion Dick Slater was being interviewed on TV minutes later the  Dynamic Duo attacked him on the TV set and did a number on him before several wrestlers from the back come to break it up, there feud also was very brief and short.
