Anyway, it was probably seen as
somewhat of a surprise when a young up and coming heel named Don Muraco upset
the great Morales, a former World Champion for nearly two years, for the I-C
strap on June 20, 1981, just six months after Morales won it, but that’s
exactly what happened. It ignited
one of the hottest feuds either one of the two men had in their entire
careers. Muraco, at this time was
managed by (again) The Grand Wizard, and the change this time occurred at the
Philadelphia Spectrum. I’m actually going to stop early this time around,
just over my minimum since I’m way behind on my school work, and really
should be getting back to the books for finals. Sorry if I disappoint, but
I’ll talk more about the history of the I-C Title next month.
NEXT MONTH:
More of the History of the Intercontinental Title. We’ll look at more of the feud between Pedro Morales, and look at my favorite champion, Tito Santana.
