Strongbow’s greatest moment in the ring was probably when he finally got the chance to wrestle for the World Heavyweight Title at Madison Square Garden against none other than “Superstar” Bill Graham.  Although Strongbow did not come away with the title, he did give the Superstar some anxious moments, and brought the crowd to their feet in excitement.

Finally, by 1985 Joe Scarpa decided to hang up his trunks and give up wrestling.  However, he did not give up the sport altogether.  Instead he became a road agent and continued working behind the scenes.  He did this for well over 10 years, and only recently retired from his post to my knowledge.  He will always be remembered by his fans as one of the mainstays of WWF arenas.

NEXT MONTH:

I’ll look at the career of another WWF mainstay during the 1970s and 1980s, former 5-time co-holder of the World Tag Team Titles, Tony Garea.
