Saturday Night's Main Event #1 Page 2

Volkoff tagged in, and Steamboat pounds him and tags Windham, and they hit a double dropkick for only two. Rotundo back in, double back elbow, then a Rotundo leg drop, make it two, but Steele breaks it up at one, and Volkoff with a knee from behind gets the advantage. He tries a slam, Rotundo goes through, but only gets a two on a role up. Then a backslide for two.

Sunset flip has Volkoff in the ropes, so Rotundo tags Windham, who gets a side headlock. Sunset flip by Windham, but again Volkoff is in the ropes and Steele is tagged in. Windham with right hands, and Steele tries to tag out, but the heels bail and won't tag, so Windham rolls Steele up for three.

Steele opens up a turnbuckle and his teammates come from behind and attack him, but Steele fights the tag champions off, and then Capt. Lou comes back in while Steele is in the corner. Albano gives steele a hug and helps him out of the ring, turning him face. Good match, ***.

Mean Gene interview sthe tag champs, and Steele is right behind them and Sheik fights with Steele. Mass confusion sends it back to the ring for Piper's Pit. McMahon intros it over them for a minute, until we get to it.

--PIPER'S PIT w/BOB ORTON & PAUL ORNDORFF--
Piper wants to sit next to Orndorff and talk to him man-to-man about WrestleMania, where Orndorff lost the fall because Orton's cast hit him. As they sit down, Orton tries to sneak up on Orndorff, so he stops it and sends Orton to the corner. Piper says sit down, Orndorff says "ladies first."

Piper sits, then Orndorff does, and Piper calls Orndorff a loser, drawing Orndorff to his feet, and the other two are going nuts. Piper wants Orndorff to sit down, and he reluctantly does. Piper says Orndorff was the one that got pinned, and the two argue about what they were doing after he got pinned.

Piper says Orndorff embarrased everybody in God's creation, and they start a shoving match. Piper's gonna leave, but he tries a right hand, Orndorff blocks it. He tries a piledriver, but Orton with the cast breaks that up, so Mr. T comes down and helps Orndorff while the heels are in the ring. We've barely had a half hour of the first SNME, and we have two full face turns.

Mean Gene interviews Hogan, who dedicates his title match with Orton to his Mother, since Mother's Day is tomorrow, and Hogan hopes Orndorff stays face. Then I believe it's one of the first whatcha gonna do comments.

--WWF Title Match
BOB ORTON w/RODDY PIPER vs. HULK HOGAN--
"Eye of the Tiger" plays Hogan out, and the place is absolutely out of its mind when the music starts. Hogan plays to the fans, taking us to a break.

We are back, and Mr. T has appeared with Hogan, and they rip each other's shirts off. Orton tries to sneak attack Hogan, but he catches him and nails right hands galore, knocking Orton outside. Back in, Hogan back body drop, and a body slam, make it two, make it three, and Orton bails.

Orton with a knee to the gut, then a right hand. Orton sends Hogan into the buckle, but a charge gets nothing but post, then a wristlock by Hogan, as he works on the cast, then he bites Orton. Hogan with a right hand to the left arm, where the cast it, then rams it into the steel post.

Back in, a kick to it, then a wristlock. Orton sends him into the ropes and hits a drpokick, knocking the champion down. Stomp to the back of the head, then an elbow, and right hands to the side of the face. Atomic drop by Orton gets two, then he hits an elbow across the throat.

Right hand to the face only gets two, then a knee to the head and he throws Hogan's face into the canvas as T and Piper exchange words on the outside. Orton pounds away at the champion with right hands, then two elbows, make it three.

Hogan hulks up to Orton forearms and right hands, and Hogan with three right hands, clothesline, and it looks like he's setting up for his legdrop, but he drops an elbow instead for two. Its funny, because McMahon goes "Hogan DROPS the Elbow!?"

Orton goes from one corner to another, then Hogan on the middle rope with some punches until an inverted atomic drop from Orton gets the advantage back to him. Orton sets Hogan on the top rope, but before he can hit his superplex, two right hands knock Orton off. Hogan with an elbow off the middle rope, legdrop, but Piper goes to the eyes to break at two.

Piper in and stomps away until T comes in and they brawl in the corner. Orton from behind knocks down T, but Hogan gets up and its two-on-one. That is it would have been, but Orndorff shows up on Hogan's side, and T from the other side, and its 3-on-2, so the heels bail.

Well, its a DQ win for champion Hogan, and actually an entertaining match. This was before Hogan's matches became as predictable as McMahon's attempted pin commentary. ***. Break.

Back fro break, and we see the faces posing, and McMahon comments about beefcake as they pose, and Jesse says they are three egomaniacs.

Gene interviews Capt. Lou Albano and Cyndi Lauper about Wendi Richter's title defense. Cyndi hypes the first Rock 'n' Wrestling Collection video "Good Enough" which we then see. Capt. Lou, Piper, Blassie, Sheik, Volkoff and Moolah all are in it. Funny part when Volkoff comes by in a truck, milking a cow singing the Russian National Anthem.

After it, Piper comes in and says how great it was because he was in it, and Lauper and Piper agrue about whether or not Steven Speilberg asked him to be in it. Then a commercial break.

--WWF Women's Title Match
WENDI RICHTER w/CYNDI LAUPER vs. FABULOUS MOOLAH--
When we return, Moolah tells Gene that she had the WWF sign a sheet saying that Lauper can't be at ringside for Moolah's matches. Then Cyndi & Wendi talk to Gene, and Lauper will NOT be barred from ringside.

Lauper comes in with Richter, and the referee reads this sheet of paper Moolah gave him, then he gives it to Finkel. He reads the shee that bars her from the arena floor, as it says in the sheet, and that takes us to break.

Lauper watches on a TV as we return, and Moolah to the eyes gets an advantage, then a hair take down. Another rake to the eyes by Moolah, then she chokes Richter in the ropes, and throws her outside. Moolah with a knee to the gut, then a stomp to Richter as she tries to get back inside.

Moolah then goes to the other side and gets on the bottom rope and threatens some fans, so a Richter dropkick sends Moolah over the top and to the floor. Richter follows her out, and knocks her down with a right hand, then sends Moolah back inside.

Moolah throws her off the ropes, back body drop, but Richter kicks out at one. Moolah with a headbutt, but Richter with a kick to the throat the she chokes Moolah in the ropes. Then she pulls Moolah out of the ropes twice, but she kicks out at one.

Richter chokes Moolah, but she breaks it with two right hands, then she chokes Richter. Kick to the gut, then Moolah tries a slam, but Richter snmall packages her for a three count, and Lauper returns to the ring to celebrate with the retaining champion.

Well, that was a lot of brawling and the crowd was bored with it, as was I, so *. Break.

Back from the break, and JYD is with Gene, and he brought his mother with him, who says she hopes he can come back home real quick.

--JUNKYARD DOG vs. PETE DOHERTY--
Doherty is an underneath guy who got good heat as a Dutch snob. JYD brings his mom to the ring, and he is stil coming out to "Another One Bites The Dust." This is right before McMahon decided for copyrights to make his own music. JYD gets a chair for his mom, and headbutts Doherty.

Right hand, then a big clothesline on "The Duke." Doherty tries to bail, but JYD pulls him by his hair. He threatens to hit Momma JYD, so JYD throws him back in. Doherty with a few punches that have no affect, and a JYD right hand knocks him down.

Snap mare by JYD, then two crawling headbutts knock Doherty outside. Doherty gets on the top to play ot the crowd, so JYD slams him off the top. JYD holds him by his hair, and nails three headbutts. Atomic drop by JYD, and he waves to his mom as he picks Doherty up for a powerslam and a three count.

JYD wins, as if there was any doubt. 1/2*. Jesse wants to know what happened to JYD's neck, "He's all traps." JYD and his mom get down in the ring. Her name is Bertha, by the way. Break.

We have returned, and its Cyndi Lauper's Mother's Day Party. Volkoff and Sheik compain, and the laugh of the night comes from 65-year old Blassie, who has a 25-year old girl with him. Mean Gene: "Fred Blassie, who in the world is this!?" "It's my mother Laura. She's pretty, isn't she?"

Gene tries to give her a kiss on the cheek, but Blassie stops that. Hogan has his mother with him, then Cyndi Lauper and her mother. Moolah comes in to break up the party, and she complains about not being invited. There's also a cake nearby, can't see what might be coming here, can you?

Well, the thing is Gene is in the middle and gets cake all over him, taking us to break.

We come back, and Jesse and Vince wrap it up, but take another break so they can get through their alloted time. Then they come back and actually say goodbye.

*****Well, for nostalgia, it's a tape to get. For storyline purposes, its important due to the Orndorff and Steele face turns. It is also an interesting look at how the WWF ran things in 1985. If you want a Saturday Night's Main Event for any other reason but nostalgia, look somewhere else. ** for the first ever Saturday Night's Main Event, May 11, 1985.*****
