Founded
in 1960 by wrestler-turned-promoter Roy Shire, the Pacific Coast Athletic
Corporation, operated out of San Francisco for more than twenty years, joining
the National Wrestling Alliance in 1968.
Operating
under the brand name "Big Time Wrestling," this group headed by Shire
was the longtime home territory for such influential names as Ray Stevens and
Pat Patterson and was known throughout the world for the live shows held at the
world-famous Cow Palace.
In
later years, Shire gave up running a full territory and booked his talent
through other NWA affiliated offices, including LeBell Promotions out of Los
Angeles, Don Owen Sports out of Portland, and Eddie Graham's Championship
Wrestling from Florida.
