In 1971, there were two top notch tag teams that came to Amarillo. The first part of the year was dominated by the team of Lorenzo Parente and Bobby Hart, The Continental Warriors. They appeared along with their manager Buck Robley and proceeded to dominate the tag action in the area. Later that summer, the Infernos returned to Amarillo. Both teams were heels, but that didn't stop them from facing each other. The Warriors were the tag team champions when the two teams met at the Golden Anniversary show of Amarillo wrestling in September, 1971. In addition to this great tag match, Junior defended his NWA title against Bob Roop, and Robely took on the manager of the Infernos, J.C.Dykes. After a wild encounter, the Infernos came out on top and began another legendary ,heat- filled stint in the territory. In 1972, a great young tag team was formed by Bobby Duncum and Dick Murdock. They defeated former champions Masio Koma and Mr.Okuma on two occasions at the Sports Arena. They whipped Dory Funk, Sr. and Pak Song to retain the belts in Amarillo, as well. In August, they defended their titles at the big outdoor show headlined by Junior and Fritz von Eric. The challengers, Rikki Starr and Lord Alfred Hayes, had formed a popular team.
