- Jim Zordani Once his partnership with Art Neilson ended in August of 1955, Reggie Lisowski teamed with several different wrestlers including Angelo Poffo, Hans Schmidt, Seymour Koenig, Dick Beyer, Bob Orton and Gypsy Joe. Because these alliances were only temporary, Reggie still needed a full time tag team partner. Enter Stan Holek. Holek was a muscular, bleach blonde haired heel just like Reggie Lisowski. The decision was made for Stan Holek to be transformed into Stan Lisowski, Reggie's brother. Reggie and Stan teamed for the first time on January 26th, 1956 at the South Side Armory in Milwaukee, Wisconsin defeating Bronko Lubich and Dan Pollack in two straight falls. During February of 1956, the Lisowski Brothers captured the NWA World Tag Team Titles. Exactly which team Reggie and Stan beat for the titles is unknown as is the exact date the Lisowskis captured the belts. However the Lisowski Brothers were billed as NWA tag team champions in several newspaper articles and arena programs from that time period. For the next several months, Reggie and Stan competed throughout the midwest battling such teams as Seymour Koenig and Luis Martinez, Rudy Kay and Hans Hermann, The Sheik of Araby and Angelo Poffo, Verne Gagne and Wilbur Snyder, Dick the Bruiser and Hans Schmidt, Verne Gagne and Antonino Rocca and Antonino Rocca and Wilbur Snyder. The Lisowski Brothers often wore pink silk jackets to the ring and used every underhanded tactic in the book to hold onto their tag team titles. Even though Reggie and Stan were despised by the fans and were regarded as heels, they defended the NWA tag teams titles against all comers whether they be heels or babyfaces. The Lisowski Brothers finally met their match when they lost the NWA Tag Team Titles to Boris and Nicoli Volkoff on November 24th, 1956 at the Milwaukee Arena. Reggie and Stan eventually regained the NWA Tag Team Titles from the Volkoffs. Exactly when this title switch occured is a matter of mystery. The Crusher Lisowski Record book published by wrestling historian George Lentz states Reggie and Stan won the belts back from the Volkoffs in February of 1957. 1957 saw the Lisowski Brothers continue to work in midwestern cities such as Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis, Minneapolis, St. Paul and Indianapolis.
