- Tony D. “Bulldog” Bob Brown was the Special Guest Referee in a match in which Harley Race challenged Ric Flair for the NWA World Title on August 8, 1985. Brown turned on Race and cost him the match and title. On September 26, 1985 in Lincoln, Nebraska, the team of Harley Race and Marty Jannetty defeated Bob Brown and Edcar “Boo” Thomas by DQ. Race and Brown wrestled to a draw on October 11, 1985 in St. Joseph, Missouri. On February 6, 1986, Brown beat Race by DQ. On February 13, 1986, the team of Harley Race and Marty Jannetty defeated Bob Brown and Kevin The Magnificent (AKA “Hercules” Kevin Kelly and Nailz) by DQ. On March 20, 1986 Harley Race and Bruiser Brody defeated Bob Brown and Ric Flair.On March 27, 1986, Rick Stewart was in the ring with “Bulldog” Bob Brown and “The Doctor of Style” Slick. The scheduled opponent for Brown’s upcoming Central States title match was “Crusher” Jerry Blackwell. Rick: “Ladies and Gentlemen, this match will be one fall with a sixty minute time limit for the Central States Heavyweight Wrestling Championship. However, before the start of this match, at the offices of the National Wrestling Alliance in Kansas City, a telegram was received. It is addressed to Bob Geigel, the President of the National Wrestling Alliance and it is from Stanley Blackburn in Reno, Nevada. Mr. Blackburn is the President of The American Wrestling Association. Dear Mr. Geigel, Jerry Blackwell, due to injuries at the hands of Bob Brown, will be unable to compete in the upcoming matches...” Bob Brown has heard enough and he walks up to Rick Stewart and interrupts him by saying “The match is over, the match is over, if he’s not here the match is over.” Rick: “AWA President Stanley Blackburn has confirmed the services of a substitute challenger for tonight’s title match, seven times Heavyweight Champion of the World, Harley Race.” The crowd goes nuts and Bob Brown and Slick are too. They are protesting this decision and Bob Brown is jumping up and down and he chased Rick Stewart out of the ring. As Harley Race makes his way into the ring, Bulldog Bob Brown and Slick are complaining to each other as well as to Referee Sonny Myers. Harley Race catches Bob Brown with a dropkick that knocks Brown into Slick. Slick tumbles to the floor and Brown is on the mat. Harley Race has The Slickster’s hat, is he gonna tear it up? No, he throws it to Slick. Brown bails out of the ring. Bob Brown tells Kevin Wall and Rick Stewart that he wants Bob Geigel out here. Harley Race gets the microphone and says “Bob Brown, you nasty ugly dog. Well, you went and found yourself a little black poodle to lug around with you, huh?” More...
