- Tony D.
"Crazy" Luke Graham had a long and distinguished career in
pro wrestling before he went to the Central States area. He was one half
of the first World Wide Wrestling Federation World Tag Team Champions
along with Tarzan Tyler. They were the first tag team managed by Captain
Lou Albano to win the WWWF World Titles. The Mongols were also managed
by Albano, but they held the WWWF International title. Luke wrestled for
over 30 years and was also NWA Brass Knuckles Champion, NWA Georgia
Champion, NWA Georgia TV Champion, and World Wrestling Association World
Champion among others.
"Crazy" Luke Graham won the Central States Title from Buzz
"Avalanche" Tyler on April 19, 1984 in a Texas Death Match and
Luke used his loaded thumb and brass knuckles to win the match. Luke
loaded his thumb by slipping something on his thumb and would hit his
opponent in the throat with his thumb.
On April 22, 1984, the matches were being taped for All-Star
Wrestling and Buzz and Luke each cut an interview. Buzz was with Kevin
Wall, and part of the cage was set up so Buzz could give his interview
from behind the cage. Kevin was on the other side of the cage with the
mic, and Luke Graham was in another part of the building.
Kevin Wall: "Buzz Tyler, Luke Graham has your Central States Title
Belt, you have asked for a Cage Match."
Buzz Tyler: "Let me say this, all the fans know how I felt about
The Central States Title, they know about the wars that me and Luke
Graham have had, and Luke Graham you know better than all the fans in
Kansas City that you stole my belt from me. You stole it in a Texas
Death Match and I tell you what, you might be The Central States
Champion baby, but when you get inside this cage with me, baby, you’re
looking at a wild animal. You might be the Central States Champion, but
when I get through with you baby, you’re gonna look like hamburger,
cause I’m gonna push that face right through these cubicles, and you
better damn well believe me."
Kevin: "Okay Buzz stand by, we want you to look at some
videotape as we get a look at the newly crowned Central States Champion,
"Crazy" Luke Graham." More...
