The Von Erich vs. Hernandez/Adams Feud - Ruby Davison and Diane Whalen Unlike most classic feuds this one didn’t start with one big event it started out slowly and built up. The beginning of this feud started when Gino Hernandez and his Valet, Andrea the lady giant, injured Sunshine. Sunshine’s Aunt Stella Mae was determined to make the two pay for their injury of her niece. She started to interfere in Gino’s matches. At one point his paranoia of her being at ringside cost him the NWA American title which he lost to Mike Von Erich. Stella Mae interfered in a tag team match in which Kevin Von Erich and Chris Adams were going against the team of Gino Hernandez and Jake Roberts. Costing the Von Erich/Adams team the match. Chris Adams’s manager, Gary Hart was not pleased at Stella costing them the match and he took it out on Stella. Kevin-the son of Gary’s life long enemy the legendary Fritz Von Erich- Objected to Gary abuse of Stella Mae. Chris tried to intervene, but when Gary hit Stella Kevin went after Gary, Chris enraged that Kevin would hit his manager Super Kicked Kevin. Stunned Kevin laid on the mat when Gino and Jake attacked him. Chris, turning his back on his partner left him in the ring. After that Kevin and Chris became bitter enemies. At Texas stadium in the fall of 1984 Kevin and Chris were to have a grudge match. Kevin won and after the match Kevin took the mike and told Chris that if he fired Gary hart that he would try and bury the hatchet with him and forget it ever happened. As Kevin turned away, Chris hit him with a wooden chair and as Kevin lay on the mat, Chris placed the chair on Kevin’s chest and jumped on it. It was only after the officials pulled him off were they able to stop the assault. Texas stadium grew silent as the ambulance slowly back up to take an injured Kevin to the hospital. Kevin’s two brothers Kerry and Mike were by his side as the attendants checked out their older brother. After hearing of Kevin’s injuries Kerry and a few of other wrestlers tried to keep an enraged Mike from going to the locker rooms to get revenge. To add insult to injury, Kevin was unable to help defend the six-man title with Kerry and Mike. Bobby Fulton of The Fantastics offered to take Kevin’s place. But in the end the team of Gino Hernandez, Chris Adams and Jake Roberts took the title from the Von Erichs. More...
