Fort Wayne, Indiana
Winter 1966

This article was written with the help of Wrestling Ringside News, published by David Mulkey, Sr. This was a fan club bulletin that was published October 20, 1982.

This month we will take a look at the WWA promotion and the first three cards that were held in 1966 at the Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne.

January 13, 1966

Five wrestlers trading punches ended the match, but the referee ruled that WWA champion Gene Kiniski defeated Dick the Bruiser in a Texas Death Match last night before a crowd of 4500 people.

The Bruiser seemed to have the Canadian Kiniski close to defeat when he was jumped by the Masked Assassins. The masked men saved Kiniski from Bruiser's onslaught and gave the Bruiser a beating of his own. Before the Assassins could finish the job, Wilbur Snyder entered the ring in street clothes and overwhelmed The Assassins with a flurry of kicks and punches.

Both Kiniski and Bruiser were bloody with Bruiser taking the first fall of the death match. Kiniski roared back to take the next three falls. All the interference happened in the fifth fall when Bruiser was rallying.

In other matches, Snyder and Moose Cholak maintained their tag title in a match against The Assassins. Cholak won the first fall with a big splash while Snyder was pinned in the second fall. In the final fall, Snyder dragged Captain Willie, The Assassins manager into the ring, causing the double DQ.

Bobby Managoff pinned Huey Long in a preliminary match.

The opener was a midget match where Pancho Lopez pinned Sky Lo Lo.
