 - Luis Cuevas

The year 1987 started with a bang in Puerto Rico after a great 1986. The promotion had a couple of feuds going on that could really have been a main event in any other country but the biggest and most wild was the one between Stan Hansen and Carlos Colon that dominated the first couple of months in Puerto Rico. The feud started at the end of 1986 but really got hot at the beginning of 1987. The first card of 1987 saw Carlos Colon face Stan Hansen for the WWC Universal Title in a Bull-Rope match at the 3 Kings card that saw Hansen and Colon bleed like nobody's business in a wild fight that finished with Carlos Colon defeating Hansen by touching the four corners. After the fight, the heels beat Carlos to set up the rematches

The feud between these two was incredible and they fought in every kind of match that you can imagine and if I'm not mistaken there is a videotape of it that I highly recommend you buy, as it really covers the feud between them.  The highlight of the feud was an appearance by Carlos Colon in the Chicky Starr Sport Shop where Chicky started antagonizing Carlos and when Carlos started to retaliate Hansen made an appearance and beat Carlos to a bloody pulp.  He used his Bull rope to tie Carlos and started mounting him like a horse in one of those incredible things I do not think you are going to see again on TV.  Carlos Colon, in an interview the following week, announced that he was retiring from wrestling due to the embarrassment and because he could not stand to see the Sport turn into what it had become.

For several weeks after, Lead Announcer Hugo Savinovich follows Carlos Colon around the island trying to get a reaction from him but Carlos would not talk.  Meanwhile Hansen and especially Chicky Starr had a field day making fun of Carlos and repeating the incident on TV while stating that Carlos was not coming back to wrestling.  After a month the babyfaces of the company known as the Army of Justice met with Carlos Colon at a undisclosed location and talked to him, letting him know that the 30 day rule was going to be applied and he might lose his title.  They urged him to come back and face this challenge as Carlos was never known to back away from a challenge.  Carlos talked and mentioned that it was true that he had never backed down from a challenge but was too embarrassed to face the public.  Invader 1 talked to him and told him that he would take care of Chicky and Carlos could take care of Hansen and together they could get rid of them. Carlos told them to give him a couple of days to think about it and he would give them  a answer.

The following Saturday in a match between the Invader and Chicky Starr, the heel team was beating Up Invader 1 until Carlos Colon made an appearance and saved Invader 1.  Colon stated that he wanted both Hansen and Chicky Starr and that both of them were going to pay for their actions.  A match was signed with Hansen in a cage but  before that match and because Hansen had a Japanese Tour, a match was signed between Chicky Starr and Carlos Colon where Carlos broke Chicky's leg with his famous Figure Four setting a big showdown with Hansen who vowed revenge for the injury to Chicky.

The final match between Carlos and Hansen like the others was a bloody affair with both men almost killing each other but after 15 minutes of fighting, Carlos finally had his hand raised in victory and one of the greatest feuds in the history of Puerto Rican wrestling ended.
