- Manuel Gonzalez Puerto Rico has produced a lot of international wrestling figures. The most known are Carlos Colón, Invader 1, Hércules Ayala, Pedro Morales and Víctor Rivera. These five guys have traveled the world but none has the physical power of Hércules Ayala. Ayala was born as Rubén Cruz Ayala in July 14, 1950 at Bayamón, Puerto Rico, where he was raised by his parents. He traveled to the USA and there was he learned wrestling with Angelo Savoldi. He liked wrestling a lot and he was a fan of Huracán Castillo Sr. His first match was against Tony Altimore in the old WWWF and he won the match. He was using the name Ruben Ayala, who for most of the people believed it was his real name. He competed as Hércules Ayala shortly after that and was known elsewhere with that name. Ayala is one of the most international wrestlers that Puerto Rico has ever produced. He has wrestled in Germany, Canada, The United States, South Africa, and many others countries, but he was also famous in Puerto Rico. He later came to Puerto Rico and worked for the National Wrestling Association and the L&G Promotion, two promotions that were in Puerto Rico before and during the WWC first steps. He worked as a babyface and was one of the most loved wrestlers of the promotion that basically were wrestlers from NWA-Florida and local talent. But Ayala finally stepped into WWC in 1976. He quickly won the Puerto Rican Championship upon his arrival, defeating Spoiler 1 (not Don Jardine but a local wrestler that his name is unknown) using his lethal bearhug as his finisher, which occurred on February 21, 1976. Lost it to Tor Kamata on May 22, 1976. He then won the North American Tag Team Title with Victor Jovica from Higo Hamaguchi and Gordon Nelson (who previously defeated Antonino Roca and Miguel Perez). Jovica and Ayala lost to The Medics (no idea who they were) in December 25, 1976. More...
