- Manuel Gonzalez Welcome fans to another piece of memories of the WWC region (Puerto Rico)here at Kayfabe Memories. As I wrote in my last column, Puerto Rico had several heel tag teams that terrorized the Puerto Rican rings for that era. But, who were the babyfaces that tried to stop that 'bad people'? Here is a list of the best babyfaces tag teams to appear for WWC in the first six years of this promotion: 1-Carlos Colón & José Rivera. This tag team was the hottest team of babyfaces in WWC for all the 70's. Collectively known as the Dynamic Team, they faced several of the teams that wrestled in WWC. They feuded with Spoilers (1975), Infernos (1976), The Medics (1977), the Kangaroos (1977, to become World Champions), The Martel Brothers (1975-1977), The Samoans Afa & Sika (1977), Hollywood Blondes (Larry Sharpe and Jack Evans, 1978), Dutch Mantel & Frankie Lane (1979). This team is considered the best Puerto Rican tag team ever in the 70's and probably of all time. Good workers at the time. 2-The Invaders. The most famous masked team ever in Puerto Rico. Jose Huertas Gonzalez aka Jose Gonzalez picked Roberto Soto as Masked Invader 2 in October 1978 and were twice World Tag team Champions, defeating once Hiro Sasaki and Kengo Kimura and the team of the Funk Brothers. They were also two time North American Tag Team champions, winning and losing it twice to the same team, Dirty Dutch Mantel and Cowboy Frankie Lane. I remember a match against the Japanese with the Invaders using a mask with eye protectors due to the Japanese salt rituals. This team suffered a couple of ruptures in the 80's and one in late 90's. Invader 1 unmasked himself. Invader 2 never show his face to the fans as he never lost the mask in Puerto Rico. 3-Carlos Colón & Victor Jovica- They become famous because they upset The Samoans on TV to become the North American Tag Team champions. Although they teamed several times, Jovica never won any other title on WWC history and spent most of the years of his career as a mid card to lower card wrestler. More...
