Where Wrestling's Regional History Lives! |

Finally, finally,
finally... I'm back at KM. As a lot of you may or may not know,
wrestling seemed to vanish right in front our eyes... like Mork
calling Ork... come in Ork! Mork goes into a cosmic trance on
how screwed up society on Earth is and the importance that simpler
things are more important. That isn't true in this day and age
with pro wrestling. It's flooded with soooo much media. The fact
that I CRAVE to get up at 5:00am cst, Saturday morning to catch
(ESPN CLASSICS) and watch 40'something wrestlers in their heyday, and
get more AROUSED than watching the one product that
we have today!
Well, I have a little to say on the Steve Austin situation, Him being a Fellow Texan and all. I talked to Steve here in Amarillo back in May, when the WWE came to town!!! I didn't think he'd even recognize me, sure enough as I walked by him, he knew instantly who I was. We talked about the old times back in the USWA/TEXAS he would ride to the shows with myself and THE MISSOURI TIGER Jeff Gaylord, Corporal Braddock and Billy Joe Travis. Scary HUH!!!! We talked hunting and Texas stuff, How he didn't have time to do anything he wanted, asked me what I was doing, I told him I'm going to college and how my career faded because I didn't want to subject my children to what I went through in having a father who was dedicated to his career and we never saw him. I virtually gave up a career (which could been really lucrative) in this business to have peace within myself and my family. Steve looked stunned!! No pun intended!! Simpler can be better sometimes! He thought I looked in my early twenties, and he was amazed that father time hadn't adorned me with crows feet and wrinkles, like so many of the boys, being on the road, did. I wanted to tell him, for about 11 years, since I had spoken to Steve, that when he was in WCW his work ethic was like that of the greats (Thesz, Race, Funk Jr.), but I asked him what happened? When he was turned into Stone Cold, his talent in the ring slowly diminished. He said Vince's take on the gimmick was a BRAWLER. How sad!!! but how LUCRATIVE!! I think if Steve would have been comfortable with just being a wrestlers wrestler, we would probably see him today!!! Another talent gone into the vast GALAXY!!!! Mork calling Orson!!!
